Business name registration now only takes 15 minutes

Published by Enes under , , , on 7:10 PM

From the usual two days processing time, the amount of time spent in registering a business name has been cut to only 15 minutes because of the enhanced Electronic Business Name Registration System (eBNRS).

Trade Secretary Gregorio Domingo said, “The entire transaction will only take around 15 minutes. The actual processing takes only three minutes and the waiting time usually takes 10 minutes. So it’s really the waiting that makes the transaction time long, but still it’s only 15 minutes.”

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) conducted a random time-and-motion study in different parts of the country. In their study, Metro Manila averaged 278 business name applications in a day with a total processing time placed at 14.35 minutes. In areas where there were fewer applications, the average transaction time were even shorter, ranging from 5 to 12 minutes.

Aside from the faster registration of business name, the eBNRS allows the registration of the all the branches of a company in just one sitting, and the registration of a business in a different locality in the DTI office nearest the business owner. “The new system gives businessmen less hassle in doing business in the country. Our aim in automation is to lessen people handling the process and allow technology to hasten transaction. In a way it makes government transaction transparent and prevents corruption in the workplace,” Domingo said.

The system will also be made available online, according to the secretary. Aside from the eBNRS, Domingo said that the DTI is also working on the Philippine Business Registry (PBR), which is a one-stop shop for businesses that want to get mayor’s permit, and registration and licenses from the DTI, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and other agencies. The system will also be made available for the application of Pag-Ibig, Social Security System (SSS), and Philhealth benefits.

“Business won’t have to go to each of the agencies in order to register. It’s still under development because we don’t want any glitches to happen once we launch it. We’re hoping to finish this before the end of the year,” Doming said.

This is really a good motivation for entrepreneurs and would-be entrepreneurs.

ID Card Business

Published by Enes under on 5:10 PM

The business of ID card printing, the ones they called the “credit card” type, is really one of the business on the rise these days. Aside from schools and companies, even organizations would like to have membership cards made from the same type. Maybe you might want to consider this business, especially if you’re an entrepreneur who is in the printing business. Then take a look at the MA100K from Magicard and see how easy it is to start this business.

Their other models include MA100YMCKO and MA250YMCKO among others. Aside from the printers, of course they also have the consumables to have business running immediately. They even security features so you can provide guarantee to your clients that their cards will be safe and have protection should they get lost or stolen.

The business of ID card printing is really a very promising one — schools, colleges and universities would always have their ID cards, and so do companies who choose the plastic type for better representation. Like I said, organizations also opt for this type of membership ID.

Business who provides credit points or loyalty incentives to their customers also gives out this type card because of its durability, which they use to keep track of the customers’ accumulated points.

So you see, the possibilities are endless. Even the younger generations would even like to have their pictures printed in this type of card. If you are an aspiring entrepreneur looking for your first business, you might want to think about this business. Good luck!

PALEA filed a new strike notice

Published by Enes under , , , on 5:09 PM

Looks like the worst is yet over from flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) as its ground crew union filed a new notice of strike last Friday before the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Citing unfair labor practices, the Philippine Airlines Employees’ Association (PALEA) through its president Gerry Rivera, accused the PAL managers of talking with employees individually, convincing them to accept the mass layoff which will be implemented because of the planned outsourcing of the airline company. The said outsourcing of some services by PAL has already been approved by Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz.

Rivera said they decided to file the notice of strike because the said attempt by the management to convince union members individually constitutes interference in their right to self-organization. “These are issues separate although related to the question of the mass layoffs recently decided by the labor secretary,” he added.

The new notice of strike is the second by PALEA this year. The first was last January wherein the union, representing more than half of the company’s rank and file employees, threatened a strike when it learned of the airline’s management’s plan to outsource its services.

Services that would be outsourced would include in-flight catering operations, airport services and call center reservations, which is said to affect 2,600 employees. The PAL management, for its part, said the outsourcing of services will help them save on costs and make the company more competitive.

Last October, DOLE ruled that the outsourcing plan was “a legal exercise of management prerogative,” which prevented the PALEA from pushing through with the first strike plan. In their recent notice however, PALEA charged management with bargaining directly with union members which it said “is tantamount to interference with, restraint, and coercion of employees in the exercise of their right to self-organization.”

Rivera said the mass layoff, which will lead to the dismissal of 62 percent of the present union leadership is tantamount to union busting. “The 1,000 union members who will remain then will be the subject of the next round of outsourcing which is already in management’s drawing boards and will be perfectly legal using the Baldoz decision as a precedent,” he said.

QTel mulls additional investment in the Philippines

Published by Enes under , , , on 11:12 AM

A Qatar-based telecommunications company is looking to increase further its investment on Philippine soil. Qatar Telecom QSC (QTel), has a minimal investment in a local listed firm, Liberty Telecommunications Holdings, Inc. The company, through its chairman Abdul Bin Saud Al-Thani, said that prospects in the Philippine telecommunications were so good that they feel that new investments are needed to be made, especially on the data side of the business.

According to Al-Thani, the key technologies that the company was looking at included further advancements in global system for mobile communications (GSM) technology and next-generation mobile wireless broadband technology long-term evolution (LTE). “We’re exploring more investments in telecoms, not just in mobile voice, but also in information technology. Additional investments will be needed, and we’re willing to make those investments,” he said during an interview at the Philippine Business Conference and Expo held recently.

Al-Thani however did not disclose the amount of additional investment that QTel would be having with Liberty. He only said that a comprehensive development plan is needed to be crafted first to determine how much the telecom firm new project would costs. At present, the company has 32 percent investment at the local telecommunications holding firm and QTel is planning to increase it by purchasing additional shareholdings. “We will look at that, up to the maximum allowed by law. In another country, we own as much as 80 percent of the company,” he added.

QTel’s expansion in the Philippines would involve further investments in Liberty, but Al-Thani said that it has no exclusivity agreement with Liberty, it respected its relations with Liberty’s parent company, San Miguel Corporation (SMC). “SMC is our partner and we honor our friendship. Our relationship is beyond partnership. We have a good bond. We are friends,” he said.

Al-Thani also added that the Philippines has always been in their plans and in fact has been in their “radar screen” for a long time. He acknowledges that “the Philippines is a growing market, a high-end market, and there are lot of prospects here, not only in voice. We want to explore the future of telecom technology.”

Saving the white beach.

Published by Enes under , , on 8:12 PM

The boracay is one of the finest travel destination here in the philippines. But now it can turn into a not so good destination because some of the tourist that are going there are not caring about its environment so it is going to be destroyed little by little.

But some private corporation and non-government organization together with the local government of aklan are setting a program to help save the white beach, Boracay Island. It will be called the Boracay Beach Management Program (BBMP) and was launched last September 25, 2010. This will settle all the concerns and problems of the white beach including the environmental issues.

The president of the Boracay Foundation Inc., Loubelle Cann said that the Boracay Beach Management Program (BBMP) will be focusing on costal resource management, watershed management, solid waste management and water waste management.

If they can prevent the destruction of the white beach it can attract more and more tourist and can create many job and business opportunities.

The Petron Corp., Petron Foundation, San Miguel Corp., Philippine Chamber  of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and Boracay Island Water Company are the partners of the local government and some government agencies such as Department of Environment and Natural Resources and Tourism.

This program will surely help to save the white beach and improve it so that it can attract more investment and tourist.

Some marketing tips for your small business

Published by Enes under , , on 7:16 PM

If you are a small business here are some marketing tips for you to find customers and generate sales higher.

One of this tips is don’t spend much in advertising you are not a big business so you can’t always afford to pay for that.  You can always offer your advertising a little catchy and easy for prospective customers to respond to it.

You need also to offer a cheaper version because some of the customers want a lower price and never cared for the quality in that case you can avoid losing sales and can offer to the customer your smaller or lower version of your service or product.

If you offer a cheaper version you also had to offer a premium version because if there are customers that are wanting a lower and smaller price product there are also a customers that are ready to pay a higher price just to get a premium product or service.

Try something that other small businesses can’t do so that you may said to your self that “at least I try”  and also try to trim your ads so that you can run more ads at the same cost.

You can also join with the other small businesses and have a joint promotions so that their customers can try your product and your customers can try their product.

These are some tips that can help you if you are managing a small business.

Every Entrepreneur wants their business to grow and have profit. They always have new ideas in their mind to fuel their business but what if you don’t have that kind of many ideas in your mind and still you want to have your own business. Well there is a answer to your problem. Nowadays there are many business opportunities like franchising.

A franchise is like a package that you can buy if you want to start a business but you don’t know what to do. And in this package it is full of many usable ideas that you can use and learn on. Most in this ideas are tried and tested from other franchiser that have their own experience so you can be confident if you invest with them.

And if you enter a franchise it is not like you buy their product then you do the other things on your own. If you enter a franchise the franchisor will support you not only in the improvement of the product but also in the idea of financial supporting.

And also you will learn how to play the market especially in the community where you are in. You can also apply your own idea so that you can improve your own store.

The ideal franchise opportunities are food oriented business, service oriented business and also the combination of the two ideas.

Whether what ideas it may be a successful franchise is still considered in the determination of person who wants to enter it.

The Barber by Neil Espera

Published by Enes under , on 12:19 AM

It’s been a while since I haven’t posted anything here. After how many months of working my as*, finally I was able to post again! Damn, I’m not in the mood now, were having a quarrel with my girlfriend. Lol. This is the way I let my anger out, writing. :D So as for the story, here it goes..

My friend Neil texted me, and want me to post a story from him. I wasn’t able to post this immediately because I happen not to read the last part of his text. So the story goes…

In a barber shop…

Barber: “God doesn’t exist because if there is God, there will be no suffering.”

The man didn’t reply to avoid arguments, and then left the shop. Outside, he saw a beggar with long dirty hair. The man went back to the shop.

Man: “You know, barbers don’t exist.”

Barber: “Can’t you see I’m a barber?”

Man: “If barbers exist, there would be no man with long dirty hair.”

Barber: “It’s just that, they don’t come to me.”

Man: “Same with God, if people will just come to Him, there will be no suffering…”

A Message by Colcats that Made Me Read the Bible

Published by Enes under , on 7:04 PM

Here's a message of Colcats that he send me through text, here it goes...

"A new Pastor moved into town and went out to visit his community. He came into a closed house, but it was obvious that someone was home. He knocked several times but no one answered. He took a card and wrote "Revelation 3:20" on the back. The next day he found the card on the offering plate, written below his message was "Genesis 3:10". He opened the Bible to read the passage and he let out a roar of laughter."

Have a break! Read the Bible to fit in. Sure thing you'll also be curious about the passages and open the Bible just like me and the Pastor.

The Graduates!

Algen and Pachuchay

Last January 10, 2009

Published by Enes under , , on 2:33 AM
I'm back blogging for Estop!

After a long time, I was able to visit my home/tambayan. It was last saturday, January 10, 2009. I went to the cafe and found my friends playing DOTA. It was 10:30 in the evening when I got there. They were almost finished playing the game. We plan to have a one game, but the cafe was closing. So we decided to go to Ryan Bangason's place and have some ""mistiza"! A drink with the combination of Tanduay, Redhorse beer and coca cola.

We had some movie and after finishing the movie and the drink, we decided to play DOTA again. A little tipsy, we walk the road and find some open Internet cafe. We reached Divisoria but no Cafes were open. So we decided to go "Lugawan", along Capistrano street. A hot "Goto with egg"(Filipinos love this) help our heads recover a little. After we finished, we find another cafe, and found ourselves in a cafe near Lourdes College, I think the name of the cafe was Vogz. We had only one game there because the cafe was up only until 2am. So we hit the road and went to another shop, in Cyvelnet cafe. We played there for I think 3 hours. 5:00 am, the rain outside was so heavy, that it flooded again some parts of Cagayan de Oro. So we headed to Ryan Bangasons place and take a good nap at around 5:30 in the morning with a heavy rain. The rain lasted up to now, the time where I posted this. May God Bless and protect CDO and its neighboring place at this difficult times.

Estop Divisoria Renovated. .

Published by Enes under , , on 12:55 AM

Last Saturday, Estop Divisoria was renovated. They apply a new paint in the cafe, I don't know what color was it cause I haven't been there. Roter said that they installed a new spy camera just like the other branches of Estop in carmen.

Man we were like exiles this few days because we don't have "tambayan", so we ended up playing billiards near the school. With miming, colcats, edlibat, dagul and me, we played for about a couple of hours ans I lost 50 bucks in playing. Damn, tsk tsk tsk, if I played that 50 bucks for dota, I would have played 3 hours!

Waiting Again..

Published by Enes under , , on 11:40 PM

I went to the shot this morning because I was waiting for someone (secret). . Only few were in the cafe and only Joey and Ryan Gamay was in there (as usual). An hour later RoTer came and I ask him if where are the others. He said that it was the Final Exam Week of the summer, that is why, no ones in there, maybe their busy studying or has exams. Then RoTer and I have our lunch, he treat me with softdrink and we talk about ***** (ooops this is a little secret). Then we came back to the cafe, it was a little boring for the Kolokois were not there, so we decided to play Winkawaks. Damn, I could not beat RoTer in Mavel Super Heroes! Then few minutes later, X came by looking for his lost papers, but he could not see it there, maybe he has an exam or he must be busy studying, then he returned to school. We continued playing Kawaks, then Ghost Fighter until it's almost 2pm, time for my duty.

This was texted by Neil Espera...

"A Hand-made Wallet"

An ill child was brought to the hospital. After her treatment, the mother showed a hand made wallet and said:

"There are things we can't pay, I hope you take this wallet I made for you."

The Doctor said: "I don't practice for sentimental reasons. Pay me Php 10,000"

The lady opened the wallet, took out the Php 25,000 and gave the doctor Php 10,000...
Then she replied: "You are a very good doctor but I wish you were a better person..."

We're F!?

Published by Enes under , , on 11:30 PM

I was having my breakfast when Earl texted me that we got an F grade in our Senior Project! For the nights that we were awake, having our hardest time making the documents and the outputs, and this is all we got?! But I was hoping he was lying though..

where are they?

Published by Enes under on 2:16 AM

I went to the shop to find earl for our discussion about our senior project. What I have seen there were the same people who were always in the cafe. Joey, Sio, Go, James and Ryan Gamay. I haven't seen earl so I just stand by there for some time and played my latest favorite song, How Six Songs Collide.
